Clean Energy Superpower and Environmental Assessment: Canada's Ambitions and Choices

In December 2010, Canada's Minister of Finance told an American audience that Canada is an "emerging energy superpower" ready to provide the world with a safe supply of resources. December 2010 also saw a Royal Society of Canada report highlighting two important deficiencies in environmental review of oil sands projects. If we grow our energy to superpower scale, Environmental Assessment (EA) becomes a more critical bridge than ever between our national objectives on the one hand and our national responsibilities on the other. The increasing burdens we are placing on it means that EA itself now deserves some assessment. This April 14-15th, join The Queen's University Institute for Energy and Environmental Policy for: "Clean Energy Superpower and Environmental Assessment: Canada's Ambitions and Choices" in Kingston, ON.
