Sustainable Transportation Webinars
Over the next three months, a series of webinars on sustainable transportation will be available at no cost for the first 85 Canadian participants. The sessions will be paid for by Transport Canada's Urban Transportation Showcase Program. The January 27th webinar will provide an introduction to the Urban Transportation Emissions Calculator, aweb-based tool that estimates greenhouse gas and criteria air contaminant emissions from urban transportation. The February 3rd session will feature the Canadian “Walkability Roadshow”, which aims to engage communities of all sizes in promoting walking. Finally, the March 3rd session will feature a case study on the TravelSmart pilots conducted in six different Vancouver neighbourhoods with differing urban environments and levels of transit service. 5th World Environmental Education Congress
The 5th World Environmental Education Congress, which will be taking place in Montréal from May 10-14 2009, is now accepting registrations online. Intended for all educators and actors in environmental education, the Congress will examine contributions that environmental education can make towards the development of relationships amongst different spheres of understanding at a critical period in Earth’s history. Keynote speakers for the event include Stephen Lewis, Riccardo Petrella and Adriana Victoria Puiggrós. Advance registration at a reduced price will be possible until February 15th.
