Sierra Club BC - Save Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park

On June 22, the United Nations World Heritage Committee met in Spain to consider a petition by Sierra Club BC and 10 other conservation groups that urges the committee to add Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park to the list of World Heritage Sites in Danger.

The Park is in danger because of proposed energy and mining development in BC's Flathead River Valley, right next door to the peace park. One proposal is for an open pit coal mine in the Flathead, just 35 kilometres upstream from Waterton-Glacier. Send a message to the BC, Canadian and US governments to tell them that mining and energy development do not belong in the Flathead River Valley, upstream from Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.
