Calls For Delegates

i.
First International Technical Conference on Animal Genetic Resources

 

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has invited the RCEN to select one (1) ENGO delegate to join the Canadian Delegation to the First International Technical Conference on Animal Genetic Resources in Interlaken, Switzerland, from September 3-7 2007.

The Conference will be the first ever inter-governmental conference dedicated entirely to concerns over current and future use of animal genetic resources for food and agriculture.

Please note there is no funding available from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to cover the selected delegate’s travel and living expenses to this Conference. Interested candidates should be prepared to secure their own funding.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 15, 2007. If you are interested in participating, visit the RCEN website.

National Orphaned/Abandoned Mines Advisory Committee Meeting

 

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has invited the RCEN to select one (1) ENGO delegate to attend a National Orphaned/ Abandoned Mines Advisory Committee Meeting in Whistler, BC on Saturday, September 22, 2007. This meeting will be held in advance of the 2007 Energy and Mines Ministers’ Conference to be held in Whistler from September 23 through 26, 2007. The Advisory Committee studies various issues and initiatives relating to the development of partnerships in the implementation of remediation programs across Canada.

Funding is available from NRCan to cover travel, accommodation, meals and incidentals.  Per diem rates are $250.

Environmental Code of Practice for Metal Mining Consultation

 

Environment Canada (EC) has invited the RCEN to select four (4) ENGO delegates to attend the Environmental Code of Practice for Metal Mining Consultation in Ottawa, ON, in mid-late Fall, 2007 (Date TBC).   The purpose of this meeting is to obtain input on the draft Code of Practice with the aim of finalizing the Code for publication by mid-2008.

Funding available to attend this meeting covers travel, accommodation, meals and incidentals.  Per diems and preparatory work will also be paid.

The deadline to apply is Monday, August 27, 2007.  If you are interested in participating, please visit the RCEN website.

Summer Schedule for RCEN E-Bulletin - August 2007

 

The RCEN would like to inform its E-Bulletin subscribers that this is an interim edition of the E-bulletin. Until our new Communication Coordinator is in place, the RCEN E-Bulletin will focus on Calls for Delegates and Action Alerts, and may not be available every week.
Please note that previous editions of the E-Bulletin are always available on the RCEN website for your convenience, as well as the most current edition of the E-Bulletin.
