Water, Fisheries and Oceans Caucus
Mandate
The scope of the Water, Fisheries and Oceans Caucus is broad and includes issues related to water quality and quantity, oceans and fisheries. The main objectives of the Water, Fisheries and Oceans Caucus are: to share information; to develop joint strategies; to help each other; and to provide advice to the government.

Fisheries Act Renewal
Water Caucus members are invited to join the RCEN Fisheries listserve. The listserve currently shares information regarding the Fisheries Act Renewal, and provides an excellent opportunity to network and strategize with other ENGOs across Canada who are active on this issue. - support the position statement from the Water Watch Summit;
- push for amendment of existing trade agreements to specifically exclude water;
- lobby for federal and provincial laws prohibiting bulk water export;
- encourage development of watershed plans that guarantee ecosystem protection;
- lobby for laws and policies requiring zero discharge of persistent toxins;
- work on and encourage the development of a National Water Policy.
