An Advisory Committee for the CEPA Review (ACCR) was formed in April, 2004 to provide advice to Environment Canada and Health Canada (EC/HC) on the process of engaging Canadians to identify and provide feedback and advice on substantive issues and options related to the statute.
The ACCR included Industry / Industry Associations, Non-Government Organizations, Aboriginal People, Provincial and Territorial Governments, other federal government departments, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and EC/HC as co-chairs of the ACCR. There were six ENGO representatives on the ACCR, with the RCEN coordinating their participation.
The ACCR provided input on the EC/HC process for engaging Canadians, including a scoping document, website consultations, a questionnaire and a series of public workshops from January 24 to February 3, 2005 (Halifax, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Yellowknife, Vancouver).
The ENGO representatives to the ACCR generated a series of agenda, issue and guidance documents throughout the Phase 1 process of the CEPA 1999 Review. |
