Phase 2
Action Alert - 2nd Sign on: RCEN CEPA House of Commons Submission
Deadline: January 22, 2007 at 5:00 pm EST
Send the name of your organization to: kiriaki@cen-rce.org
The RCEN members on the CEPA Committee have prepared and submitted a joint Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA 1999) House of Commons submission on December 20th, 2006. The submission reinforces the NGO priorities that have been identified; highlights areas that have been covered and to what extent; and identifies gaps and topics that should have and have not been touched in the Parliamentary Review.
This document will be re-submitted to the House of Commons with additional sign-ons. There is therefore an opportunity to add the name of your organization to the list of signatories, if you have not already done so.
We are looking for signatories by January 22, 2007 at 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Please review the attached document and you can add your signature by sending the name of your organization at: kiriaki@cen-rce.org.
Please note, that an addendum has been added to Section 5 on “virtual elimination”. The attached two-page document elaborates on policy recommendations relating to “virtual elimination”. These recommendations are based on a testimony by Derek Stack, Kapil Khatter and Hugh Benevides on October 24 at the House of Commons committee, and were too detailed to be included in the original submission. Those who have already signed on to the submission, as well as those considering signing on, may want to review the document, as it will be given to the committee as an addendum to the submission, along with the complete list of sign-on supporters, in the days to come. Please contact Hugh Benevides (CELA) for any clarifications about it, (tel.: (416) 960-2284, ext. 218; e-mail: benevidesh@lao.on.ca).
Thank you very much for your collaboration!
