Stakeholder Workshop on Chemicals Management Plan Challenge

The RCEN has selected 4 ENGO representatives working on environmental health issues to attend the Stakeholder Workshops on Chemicals Management Plan Challenge on February 27, 2007 in Ottawa, Ontario. The objectives of the workshop are for federal officials to provide instructions on what information is being sought for the Challenge, how participants are to submit this information and associated timelines.

Selected ENGO Delegates:

On February 3, 2007, a Notice was published in the Canada Gazette detailing the Government of Canada's Challenge under the newly announced Chemicals Management Plan. This notice included the first batch of substances identified under the Challenge and corresponding timelines for addressing these substances of high priority. In support of this announcement, Environment Canada and Health Canada will be hosting workshops for stakeholders on Monday February 12 and Tuesday Feb. 27 in Ottawa, to help further explain expectations of the Challenge, the associated documentation as well as how to participate.

The RCEN is sending a group of ENGO delegates already selected to work on the DSL-Post Categorization file to the February 12, 2007 workshop. Environment Canada has agreed to include 4 additional delegates from ENGOs working on environmental health issues related to the Chemicals Management Plan to attend the February 27, 2007 workshop.
