Fifteenth Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-15)

Due to lack of funding in 2007, the Canadian Environmental Network (RCEN) was not invited to select an ENGO or youth delegate to attend theFifteenth Session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-15) on April 30-May 11, 2007 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. However, the RCEN has selected ENGO and youth delegates for previous CSD meetings and looks forward to the possibility of selecting ENGO and youth delegates to attend future CSD meetings.

Meeting Information

CSD-15 will be a policy, or negotiation year of the second implementation cycle and will continue its focus on the following areas:  Energy for Sustainable Development; Industrial Development; Air pollution/ Atmosphere; and Climate Change.

The federal government is currently developing Canadian positions for CSD-15. Click here for the Chairman's draft negotiating document on Policy options and possible actions to expedite the implementation on energy for sustainable development, industrial development, air pollution/ atmosphere and climate change, which will be used as the basis for developing Canadian positions. A consultation session will be held on March 14, 2007 from 2 – 4 pm with members of civil society to hear their views. Results from the civil society consultation for CSD-14 are on the DFAIT website.
