Canadian report to the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF)

Preparations for the 4th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF 4), which will take place in May 2004 in Geneva are underway. Countries involved in the UNFF process have been asked to prepare country reports, which are to include updates from past reports and new information relating to the topics which will be discussed at UNFF 4. The UNFF 4 topics for discussion include: traditional forest-related knowledge; forest related scientific knowledge; social and cultural aspects of forests; monitoring assessment and reporting, concepts terminology and definitions; and criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is asking Canadians to review and comment Canada's report. Send all your written comments to Mike Fullerton of the Canadian Forest Service, NRCan, at tel: 613-947-9082. The deadline is Friday April 23.
