RCEN Request for Proposals (RFP) related to urban issues

Deadline to send your application: April 1, 2005 at 5pm EST

The Health Caucus of the RCEN is currently developing a funding proposal to the Federal Government to ensure participation of ENGOs from across the country at the 3rd session of the World Urban Forum (WUF), and to facilitate access to funding for ENGO activities that are linked with urban issues. Therefore, we invite ENGOs to send us proposals for projects and activities related to urban issues that could be developed in conjunction with the WUF 2006. We will insert all proposals that meet the requirements below into a collective funding proposal. Please understand that this RFP is not a guarantee of funding, as the collective proposal is pending approval. However, we will do our best to obtain funding for all the proposed projects and will keep all applicants well informed.

The 3rd session of the WUF will be held in Vancouver, BC, in June 2006. Created by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) and held once every two years, the WUF provides an opportunity for international public, private and not-for-profit organizations, governments and experts to come together, to exchange information, insights and best practices on one of the main challenges of the new Millennium: the transition of our planet to an essentially urban world. The Canadian Government, in preparation for the WUF 2006, has formed a National Advisory Committee (NAC). Amelia Clarke is the selected ENGO representative in the NAC, see the RCEN World Forum webpage.

RFP Requirements:

  • The proposal must not be longer than 2 to 5 pages in length;
  • The proposal must include a detailed description of your organization;
  • The proposal must include a detailed description of your project and how it relates to the 2006 WUF;
  • The proposal must include a workplan, a realistic budget and timelines;
  • Your budgets must not exceed $30,000 and must not be lower than $1000.;
  • The proposal must be sent to the RCEN via e-mail no later than April 1st, 2005 at 5pm EST.

Please submit your proposal electronically to: Chantal Bois.

A listserv will be created by the RCEN for ENGOs interested in receiving updated information regarding the 2006 WUF; Amelia Clarke will be part of this listserv. If you are interested in joining, or to obtain additional information, please contact Chantal Bois, telephone: (613) 728-9810 ext. 24.
