Vision for Canada's Forests 2008 and Beyond

The Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) released, on April 1st 2008, a draft “Vision for Canada’s Forests – 2008 and Beyond”, as part of the process to develop the successor to the current National Forest Strategy: 2003-2008.

The draft Vision is a significant milestone in the development of a long-term vision for Canada’s forests. It is anchored in the principles of sustainable forest management and focuses on two key priority issues – forest sector transformation and climate change in the context of sustainable forest management. The draft Vision can be found on the CCFM website, at:

http://www.ccfm.org/current/FINALPDFVision_March122008.pdf

The document reflects the valuable feedback and advice provided by a broad range of stakeholders since June 2007 on the discussion paper, Canada’s Forest Strategy for 2008 and Beyond.

Interested organizations are invited to provide input and advice to CCFM on the draft Vision by May 16th, 2008.

You are invited to submit comments and input to CCFM by using one of the following methods:

1. Via email to 2008strategy@ccfm.org

2. Through the forest strategy section of the CCFM website at http://www.ccfm.org/

If you wish to further discuss the Draft Vision, please contact Mr. Dwayne Dye, Secretary of the CCFM Forest Strategy Task Force, by phone at (306) 953-2339 or by e-mail, at dwayne.dye@gov.sk.ca.
