Call for Nominations
RCEN Youth Caucus Steering Committee Elections
The Canadian Environmental Network (RCEN) is holding its elections for the Youth Caucus Steering Committee members to lead the Youth Caucus in achieving its mission, which is “to support Canadian youth by facilitating and promoting opportunities for them to meaningfully engage in environmental and sustainability initiatives.”
This call is open to all youth who belong to, or are willing to join the RCEN via its Youth Caucus. New Steering Committee members will serve a two year term, from May 2010 to May 2012. Caucus activities are overseen by a Steering Committee comprised of no more than 8 individual from different regions in Canada. As half of the Steering Committee is renewed at a time, we will be seeking four new SC members for this upcoming election.
Please note that future Steering Committee members must be ready to partake in the Youth Caucus’ Mentorship Program pilot project that will be held between May and August 2010. As the pilot project will be launched in Ottawa, future Steering Committee members need to be ready to travel to Ottawa from May 12-16, 2010 (travel and accommodation are covered) to participate in the pilot project and to attend a Steering Committee meeting.
Interested members can apply by completing the online application form (please ensure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader). Under “Name of consultation”, please enter “Youth Caucus Steering Committee” and indicate whether you are interested in Chairing or Co-Chairing the Caucus.
The deadline for nominations is Sunday, April 11, 2010 at midnight, Pacific Time.
Please note that to participate in the Youth Caucus, candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age and belong to a member group of the Canadian Environmental Network or affiliate network. If you are not a member, visit this web page to find out how you can join!
