Environmental Assessment Regulations Programme
On September 1st, 2001, Health Canada published
a Notice of Intent in Canada Gazette Part I to
inform Canadians of the department's intention
to proceed with developing new regulations for
environmental assessments of products regulated
under the Food and Drugs Act toward ensuring compliance
with the Canadian Environmental Protection Act
(for more information on CEPA, visit the CEN
Toxics Caucus webpage). The project is very
broad with implications for a wide range of industries
and stakeholders. ENGO participation is not overseen
by the CEN, and identification and selection of
those groups representing ENGO interests is at
the discretion of Health Canada.
