Consultation in Progress

ENGO-DFO National Fish Habitat Coordinating Committee

In November 2006, the Canadian Environmental Network (RCEN) selected 4 ENGOs to participate in the ENGO-DFO National Fish Habitat Coordinating Committee (NFHCC), along with representatives from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). The purpose of the NFHCC is to plan, organize and coordinate cooperative activities between ENGOs and DFO, in support of fish habitat management in Canada.

The NFHCC developed a Workplan for the fiscal year 2007-08. During this time the Committee met face-to-face twice and monthly by teleconference.
The Coordinating Committee is currently developing a Workplan for fiscal year 2008-09 to build on its successes and continue strengthening the relationship between DFO and ENGOs.
