Membership
Join Canada's Largest Network of Environmental Organizations!
For more than thirty years, the RCEN has been at the heart of the environmental movement in Canada, serving its members by facilitating communication and networking opportunities between people who share our mandate and values. By working together at consultations and workshops, or through various caucuses or committees, local, regional and national groups can share experiences and build strong relationships with each other and with various government departments.
Every year, members are invited to attend our Annual General Assembly - an ideal opportunity for meeting new people, strategizing at a national level around important issues and learning new skills.
Participation in Government Consultations
RCEN members constitute a vibrant network that is preferred by Environment Canada and other federal departments and agencies when consulting with Environmental NGOs (ENGO). RCEN coordinated delegate selections enhance member access to participate in a range of multi-stakeholder consultations, working groups, and national and international meetings on environmental policy. Our delegate selection process is transparent, representative, democratic and bilingual.
National Caucuses Consisting of passionate, knowledgeable individuals representing member organizations from across the country, our 10 national caucuses address today’s most important environmental issues. Caucuses are working groups that share information and expertise on specific problems, collaborate with other civil society organizations and work with the federal government to protect the environment and increase public participation in policy decisions.
Sharing Information
RCEN members have at their disposal effective tools for the dissemination of timely information to other civil society groups and concerned citizens. Through our weekly E-Bulletin and website, members can share important announcements, resources, events, jobs, action alerts with over 600 environmental groups in Canada and interested parties in the private and public sectors.
Active Involvement
In addition to our national caucuses, the RCEN offers many other opportunities for involvement in the Network’s activities. RCEN’s governance structures, including our National Council, Board of Directors and committees reflect the diverse, grassroots-driven nature of our network. As an active representative of your organization, you can help shape the RCEN’s focus, activities and decision-making processes in a positive way.
